96 Town & Country - Front Brakes

Was wondering if anyone would know what would cause the front brakes not to release after letting off the brake pedal. If I start to pull forward I can feel that the brakes are stuck (grab) but as I continue to go forward they start to release. You can feel that there is a little drag pulling off from a stopped position. I've checked the pads and rotors and they look fine.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Good place to start would be the rubber flex hoses. They can develop an internal one way restriction that will allow the brakes to apply, but not release. The hose comes apart internally.

Re: 96 Town & Country - Front Brakes

Hopefully I can get them off without destroying everything (brake lines, etc). I should probably spray some PB Blaster on them a few days before I try taking them off. Seems everytime I work on something that is rusty everything else starts to break apart.

Thanks for the help.

Re: 96 Town & Country - Front Brakes

I had this problem about a year ago. Te cause of the problem was the flex hose. More specifically the metal clip that goes around the flex hose and hold it to the strut had corroded. The expansion of the corroded steel let the fluid flow out but not back when the brakes were released. New hose solve the problem.

Hope this helps, in truth I really did not have to replace the hose. Try just prying the holding clamp a little to release the tension on the hose and the brake should release.

Hope this helps.

if you jack it up can you turn both front wheels? because i cant see both rubber lines colapsing at the same time. if one side spins and the other one don't it probably is one of the rubber lines. a master cyl can cause that to and makes both front wheels to lock. i never knew this before i put new master cyl from autozone and it was the cause of front wheels locking up and never did it after i put another new one on..boy did i give them hell.
