1996 caravan sport rear hatch

hi there wondering if anyone could help ,,recently having problems with the rear hatch not opening from outside got it open from the inside took it apart and was trying to take rear handle off but wont budge there is a plastic nut about inch an half long with a hex end tryed losening that but no luck is there any other screws or nuts i should be looking for if so please let me know thanks ......

I had the same problem most likely you will have to keep trying and if the nut brakes you can pick one up at your local dodge dealer. I had the brake that plactic nut on my van it get it off. that nut is only $2 at the dodge dealer. If you still have the panel off stop by the dodge dealer or a body shop, there maybe a special tool toget it off. hope this helps. good luck
