Oil Filters

'99 Chrysler Town & Country 3.8

What kind of oil filters do you recommend? My father-in-law is starting his 44th year at GM, so as you might guess, this is the first car we've owned that wasn't a GM product. I always use AC Delco filters on our vehicles, but with a Chrysler, I wasn't sure. I know AC Delco makes a PF13 to fit this vehicle, but I've had difficulty locating it.

I don't want a roll of toilet paper in a soup can (I've heard Fram isn't that good), so am really looking forward to your recommendations.

Re: Oil Filters

Here's a good starting point:http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/index.html
I've linked to this study first done many years ago but recently updated. If you peruse through the study you will find that some of the 'best' filters from the past study are no longer considered that. I am a GM person and have used and recommended A C Delco filters for decades , but after reading that study I have switched brands. It's a sad state of affairs when something is outsourced and the quality goes downhill. Funny thing is that the now lower quality A C Delco filters are produced by the same company that makes some of the best according to the study. Differing manufacturing processes reveal different quality filters. Hope that study can at least give you some info in helping you choose a good filter for your vehicles.

Re: Oil Filters

Blimey!! I should have known something was up with the A/C Delco's when I was picking them up at Walmart for $4.

I think I'll try Bosch. Easy enough to locate. Seems like everywhere you go, it's Fram Fram Fram. Autozone sells Bosch, so I'll give that a whirl.

Thanks!

Re: Oil Filters

NAPA Select #21080. We literally install thousands of these filters every year with no problems. You don't need to spend the big bucks for "premium" filters!!
