Passenger Side Slider Doesn't Unlock

It takes a half dozen on-off cycles of the power lock to finally get this to pop up fully and allow opening of the door. It does rise partially during these efforts, but the design is such that it does not allow you to pull it open manually (holds the pin tight). I know I'm going to have to remove the door panel and poke around, any adivice for what to look for is appreciated.

The coarse-pitch screw which forms part of the lock "pin" you refer to is part of the motor assembly and is probably getting sticky due to aging of the lubricant. You can probably push back the rubber boot from the motor and clean off the old lubricant and replace it with new lube, I'm not sure what type of lube to use though. The motor is a high current intermittent duty motor that spins for a fraction of a second to open or close the lock, depending on motor direction. It is only supplied current for a very short period of time to prevent destroying it. That is why you only get a partial movement of the lock pin each time you press the button. Hopefully the cleaning and relube I mentioned will do the trick for you.
