Tapping sound when turning on blower on 96 G Caravan.

This is really weird. When I turn on the heater blower on my 96 Dodge Grand Caravan there is a tapping sound behind the glove box. It taps for about 24 times and then stops. It sounds like a vent door that is slapping. The sound started about a month ago. I dropped the glove box down, but the vent assembly is all closed in so I couldn't see anything. Anyone else have this happen?

Re: Tapping sound when turning on blower on 96 G Caravan.

Apparently not. There are a couple things to try. Disconnect the battery 2-3 minutes to reset the climate control module. Don't move any of the climate controls before you reconnect the battery. Inspect the connections at the control panel and the climate control assembly.Try a climate control system calibration.

Here's how: "Turn on the blower. Simultaneously push the top and bottom wiper buttons on the left side of the ventilation control panel for 5 seconds. All the lights on the panel will light up. Then two lights on the left side will alternately flash for about two minutes and you'll hear the ventilation modes cycle. When just the top light on the left side slowly flashes push that button and you're done. All lights should be out and you should be back to normal."

Just make sure your A/C is working before you try this. If it's not and you try a calibration, you'll have flashing lights till you fix the A/C.

Are you sure it's not just something (paper, leaf) stuck in the blower fan assembly?

Re: Tapping sound when turning on blower on 96 G Caravan.

Thanks for the information. I will try the first one and disconnect the battery for 2-3 minutes. The second suggestion is probably not a good idea since my a/c doesn't work. I don't want to end up with flashing lights.
