Re: Pocher F40 WIP
Mind blowing! Do you do anything special for painting the metal? I have trouble with photo etch, the paint peels or scratches very easily, it's enough to make me want to avoid metal altogether and stick to 100% plastic!

Re: Pocher F40 WIP
Hy bmwmech,
your work looks fantastic! Autograph is nothing against your work! Absolutely great! I have made a 3D model of the chassis and also the brass material is ordered... my plan is to make it similar like yours (maybe not so perfect like you...) I hope my chassis will be nice enough to upload some pics here :-) Regards from germany, C.G. |

Re: Pocher F40 WIP
You could try Finisher's power primer and multi-primer, I will purchase those for my Reventon surpace with is mixture with metal, putty and plastic

Re: Pocher F40 WIP
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! I was out of town until today, so not much to show. I did make a first attempt at plating the radiator without much prep work, just to see how it would turn out, not sure if I will make a second attempt, or just send it out for plating... Started working on the throttle bodies some and the clutch/brake pedal assembly, but not much to show yet. Here are a couple of quick shots of where I am now...
Here you can see the plating of the radiator tank and the throttle bodies ![]() Here's a tighter shot of the radiator tank plating... you can see the lack of prep work, but I wanted to see how well the plating would do and if I was going to plate the pieces, or send them out. I think, with the right amount of prep, the plating would look fine and I'll still have to prep them if I send them out anyway... ![]() Here's one of the pedal assembly after I removed all of the unnecessary kit moldings and added the styrene baseplate ![]() Like I said, nothing exciting, but a little progress... Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() BM1 |

Re: Pocher F40 WIP
Hello everyone, I didn't get lost... just not much to show, since I'm working on about 4-5 things right now in various stages of completion. Fuel tanks, throttle bodies, bodywork, interior carbon fiber pieces, firewall and package shelf. All are getting done, but progress is slow since I've been swamped at my "real" shop. Knock on wood, but the poor economy has not slowed my repair business at all. I hope it continues to stay busy, but it doesn't leave much time for Ferrari progress. Okay, maybe a teaser or two...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As I said, not much to show... look for a post later in the week with some better stuff!!! Thanks for watching!!! BM1 |

Re: Pocher F40 WIP
Finally, another update... whew!!! Sorry they seem to be getting slower, but my shop(read real job) has been slammed and bodywork on models, or anything for that matter, is slow, as we all know.
So, up first is the drivers side rear of the main body after fiberglassing the molded plastic window track/fuel filler and door mount in place and roughing the fiberglass to shape... ![]() Next, is the passenger side after massaging and primer, ready for final sanding... ![]() Next up are 2 shots of the front clip before it goes into the mold-making process to be "laid-up" in fiberglass. If you are wondering why it looks funny, with the wheel openings and such filled in, it's because I am using plaster as my mold material and unlike rubber molds, undercuts are a no-no with plaster, so all openings must be filled or covered... ![]() ![]() Sorry, I know it's not much, but that's all for now...it's off to make the mold. Hopefully, by the weekend, I'll have a fiberglass front clip to show off... ![]() ![]() !!!BM1 |

This is truly an amazing proyect!!!! I have one of this Pocher F40 and my plan is to make a race version of it, I was undecided in the team/sponsor, the red, green, white car you are doing or the Art Sport 123 red car, think will go for the last one!.
This proyect of yours have been quite a feast in how to make a truly MAGNIFICENT piece of scale modeling art....just a SUPERB proyect and a show of great craftmanship!!!! Fred |
