Hi guys, I have a 2003 Lincoln LS w/ 90,000 miles on it and I desperately need some advice! I was hearing a loud rattle noise immediately after cranking but it stopped as soon as cranked. Drove fine but tried to crank one morning and engine cranked right up, made the same noise but much louder, then engine shut off and wouldn't crank back. Had car towed to dealership where they told me the timing chain had broken and the engine was ruined. I paid them $6800 to replace the engine with a factory remanufactured engine from Lincoln with a 100,000 mile warranty. As soon as I picked up the car, I noticed that it idled really rough. It ran fine when driving, but idles like an old galopy! The car literally rocks back and forth and front to back while sitting at red lights. Prior to engine replacement, the car was so still and quiet while idling that it was hard to tell that the car was even running! I have taken it to dealership twice where they tell me that nothing is wrong with it and it is not giving any codes. They say until it gives codes, there is nothing they can do. I didn't pay almost $7000 to drive my car around feeling like I'm driving an old junker! What should I do?

Re: Timing chain broke - replaced engine
I would consider Talking to Clark Howard!
Tell them you want all new IRIDIUM Spark plugs & MAF sensor. Don't settle case by trading for a new car. Last edited by danielsatur; 01-22-2010 at 05:45 PM. |

Re: Timing chain broke - replaced engine
So you had a Ford factory rebuilt engine installed, and the warranty is through Ford? If so, I think you need to find another dealership and take it there. Have you talked with the service manager and/or Ford Corporate?
