no heat in my element...

i have a 2003 element and its been gettting a little cold out lately. i have never tried to run the heat since i've had the suv til now and im not getting any heat out of the vents. i popped the hood and manually opened the hot water heater hose valve by the firewall and still no heat. i called the dealership and the told me to check the #14 fuse under the dash. fuse is fine. anyone else have this problem? is there something else i should be checking?
