Do i really need amp for the front speakers?

i have a 95 civic and a rockford head unit. i am planning on getting new front speakers but i dunno if i need an amp or no. i am not gonna go crazy with the sound system, i just want nice quality sound. any suggestions? also, what brand of speakers would u recommend? i have a tight budget.

personally, i have alpines for my speakers, no amp. They're really good in my opinion. I was oringally gonna get JL's for speakers, but the guy at the shop said something about how the outsides are made of some kinda foam, and they deteriorate fast, anybody else here stuff about that at all?
but ya, alpines for your front 6's at least, they're pretty reasonable price to

No you deffinitely don't need an amp. The rockfoz head-unit you bought has built in amplifiers for the door and rear-fill speakers. If you get some subs, you will need an amplifier for just the subs, but unless you go crazy with the bass, you shouldn't ever need amps for your little speakers.

some people say that but alot of people disagree. personally ive seen some old ass JL's that had foam in fine condition, plus there not subs so the foam isnt going to deal with huge excursions.
