belt tensioner
hey all, the belt tensioner on my GT decided to explode today. i was under the impression that on the 3800 the whole assembly had to be replaced when that happened, however when i went to the parts store today to get a price on the part the guy asked if i wanted just the pulley, or the whole assembly
if its just the pulley that exploded, can i just replace the pulley?thanks for the input everyone

Re: belt tensioner
You can replace just the pulley. Just make sure the pulley bolt is still good along with the threads where the bolt inserts in to the tensioner. The pulley is a 3" smooth pulley.

Re: belt tensioner
Also note, the bolt that secures the pulley to the tensioner is left hand thread, so you'll need to turn it clockwise to loosen, counter-clockwise to tighten.

Re: belt tensioner
all done, got a pulley for $20 and just threw it on there...good as new.
thats really weird, i remember on my '97 that i had back in high school...when the tensioner went we had to replace the whole assembly cuz the pulley was pressed on there.
