Re: [REFERENCE] Peugeot 205 turbo 16 DAKAR 1987
Hello,
here is one of the cockpit. ![]() I have plenty of pics of the outside (especially those from peugeot museum) but only this one of the engine compartment on my hard drive. ![]() I may have some more in my books, I know I have some views of the complete assistance team somewhere, I need to check it and eventually take pics of them. |

Mmm I'm not so enthusiast with those pics, Sam, because a lot are from a completely false rebuild (see the first ones) so pay attention guys if you're intending to build a accurate version. Moreover there's nothing about the GR version there...

That's the thing with the 205...It's very hard to find photos of the original racecar.
Well, at least you can get an idea of the interior of the car.

But what to do with a wrong one !? ![]() ![]() - mode bad joke off - Seriously some pics are accurate and from the original race car (those where the car is racing of course ) even for the inside if I saw it well, but once more pay attention to the bad rebuild ones among the right ones if trying to use it as reference...Most of the time I wouldn't give many credits to pictures of a Peugeot race car recently seen especially if not racing (museum etc) because if you're right saying it's not so easy, it's not that impossible for the rally versions because many official pictures are available here and there... (Peugeot did a lot itself) But after that, that becomes complicated, for sure, because the 87 Dakar version has been built in a very short time using the rally base, after that the pikes peak received a new engine, and after that again the next Dakar cars received the definitive GR engine... in the same time some of the different rally cars have seen their parts dispatched to different rallycross cars... Many of the cars have been used a way or another. a very few have been sold "as they were" and were kept like that, even most of the museum's cars are rebuilt cars... Today even the Peugeot Museum cannot rebuild the car as they were racing (no spare Evo2 engine are still available for example, the Evo2 from the Peugeot museum has a GR engine !) The only reliable source is the books from the races or the years or personal photos of people having been there on the event. Quite "easy" for the rally but more complicated for the Dakar... By chance some of the Dakar versions from the Peugeot museum are the original ones... Unfortunately I could take pics from the engine compartment for some of the cars shown but I never have had the chance to visit the stock and take pics of the 205 GR engine (it wasn't shown the day I asked the museum authorization to open hoods and take pics of the engine compartements) Nevertheless my chance if I would talk about me is that I live in France, and then have some good contacts with people trying to get the most informations possible about these Peugeot cars, trying to find them back (with the welcome help from Peugeot or people from Peugeot sometimes) and I have always been particularely interesting in these Peugeot Gr. B cars which are the ones I discovered rally through (with the" howling Audi from the french girl Mouton" ) even some small details...I've then been referencing for months all 205 T16 by registration plates, chassis number, drivers and events raced, and when known how and where they ended... (congratulations to all posters from ForumAuto who share their informations and pictures). If somone is interested in getting some pics or informations about a precise event or version, feel free to ask, I would share what I have. I can't send the whole thing with all the pics, it's too much heavy (several GO !) What is hard to find for us in France or Europe in general is pics from the Olympus rally for example. If someone can help I will be very gratefull. So now the hunt to 87 dakar engine goes on ! ![]() I must have some pics in the dakar books... I will try to take a look this week. |
