hey all, I'm having a couple of problems with my 96 safari rwd, but I'm not sure if they are related.
first, when I take my foot of the brake petal after stoping my van jumps forward abit, only does it sometimes, feels kinds like the brakes are still being engages and then lets go causeing the van to move forward, I've had the brakes checked and nothing wrong was found. (thought maybe the brakes were grabbing) second, yesterday I was driving uphill on the highway, doing about 80km/h, when the van hesitated, felt like the tranny wasn't sure which gear it wanted to be in, kick down to get more rpms or stay in the current gear. it did it a couple times within a few seconds until I gave it more gas. I'm gonna test it next time I'm out there and see if it does it again at the same speed. I'm afraid that somehting might be wrong with the transmission. Dan |

Re: hesitation and brake grabbing problem
Have you checked the condition of the tranny fluid, i.e. Smells burnt, brown in color, correct level, etc. ?

Re: hesitation and brake grabbing problem
I had the tranny fluid flushed and filled less than a year ago, so I didn't think that that would be a problem, but when I popped the hood, right away I noticed a bit of a burnt smell. the tranny fluid is a bit low, discoloured and I am pretty sure that's where the smell was coming from. I've topped it up now, and will drive it around tomorrow. I find it a bit suprising that the fluid could be low and discoloured already, I have not noticed anything leaking from underneath.....
