Brake Rotors Hot
Ok, so I've done a lot to my car in the last week, and I may know whats wrong already, but I want some information / opinions to be sure.
So, here is what I've done this week in the appropriate order. 1) Installed a lowering kit. 2) New Black Bullitt Wheels on the back. (Temporary till I get my other 2. No where to put 4 tires.) 3) Replaced the brake pads on the two front tires. "Ceramic Gold" Lifetime warranty and supposably makes "No Noise" 4) Replaced the brake caliper on the two front tires. 5) Replaced the rotors on the two front tires. Now, the brakes work fine. I've bled them twice, checked everything, etc. The issue now is that when I drive, the rotors are getting very hot. I don't want to mess up the rotors again, and I'm thinking its the brake line.. When I bled the front left wheel, the line was being very stubborn for letting the air out. The first time I noticed it, I checked it immediately and there was smoke coming off of the rotor. I checked it several more times, and if I feel the wheel itself, it is hot. It doesn't feel like its dragging any, but that might be because it was dragging before. So, my question is.... Does it sound like the caliper is sticking? If its a brand new caliper, would it be the brake line? Also, I need to lube up the metal pieces for the pads, what is a good lube. Could that be whats making them stick as well? How hard is it to replace a brake line? I also need to flush out the brake fluid soon.... How hard would it be for me to do all of that myself? I replaced the springs, pads, calipers, and rotors myself, but I am not a mechanic in any way. |
