98 Grand Caravan: Fan/Blower sqeaks when cold

When I turn on my heat in the morning there is a very annoying sqeak/squealing coming from the fan/blower. If I turn the fan off it stops and once the engine warms up the sqeaking starts.

Any ideas?

Cold is tough on bearings- Should have heard my blower when it was 15 below- not a squeak- but an ear piercing squeal! It is perfectly quiet now that we are above zero degrees. You have some options- replace blower motor, try to lube yours, or put up with the noise until it fails completely- may be tomorrow- may be 4 years from now- it is up to you.

Re: 98 Grand Caravan: Fan/Blower sqeaks when cold

It's fairly simple to get the motor out. There's 4 or so screws that hold it in it's mounted below the glove box. You can try to lube the bearings, I have a 97 GC and I had to take my motor out and lube it, several years ago, then when it happened again I got a used motor from a junk yard. I think that the dealer wanted $75 for a motor. Got a used one for $20 and it's working fine.
