Flexible plastic brake line?
1995 S10 2.2 5 speed
I had a short section of brake line start leaking today from the junction at the axle to one of the rear brakes. I was at work and didn't want to risk driving it home. Dealer wanted $200, muffler man $50. Picked it up from Muffler man and looked underneath and it is plastic flexible line? Never heard of such a thing? Is this something new? |

Re: Flexible plastic brake line?
Most parts stores carry sections of brake line tubing of various lengths. Its a steel line with a plastic coating. These are high pressure lines I doubt if it was plastic. Normally these should be under $5.00 I don't know what they sold you but use approved steel tubing. You may have to use a bender to get the correct length. On a rear axle they normally have a spiral wound wire to prevent a stone from crushing them. I've also purchased a good section from a scrap yard.

Re: Flexible plastic brake line?
Why not ask the Muffler man? Seems interesting- see if you can get a brand name..
