Why the #10R was the "Prototype"?

Yesturday evening I found about this forum about 70 great pics of 10R (thanks for them!), don't find the Thread now but that I started to wonder.

Why the #10R was the "GTR Development" car? Why not example 01R which would be logical?

Sorry if this was unnessary Thread, but I haven't found anywhere a clear answer about this? Has anyone a clear answer?

Sami, #10R was the prototype for the 1996 GTR's, just like #01R was the prototype for the 1995 GTR's and #19R was the prototype for the 1997 GTR's

Ok, the thing cleared quite well now. Just thought that 10R is still 1995 model, not 1996. But I was wrong this one. So the 09R was the last GTR produced at 1995, and 10R was the first at 1996.
Always can learn something new. opcorn:

Re: Why the #10R was the "Prototype"?

I believe the confusion arises from the fact that while being a 1996-spec GTR, #10R was completed in 1995, and while being a 1997-spec GTR, #19R was completed in 1996.

Yep, previously I had some dificultes to know which one is 1995 and which is 1996 GTR, now it really cleared.

So when everything started, the #01R was the first GTR "prototype" which they took to the Le Mans and not the BPR GT series or anything else?
I remember read some where that the car has done only one race, and that was Le Mans? Is this correct information?
