96 Explorer High Mount $top light

Is there a way to check the high mount lamp or it's transformer? Expensive items.... Is there a replacement system for this original system? Thanks

Had this same problem with my 95. In all the cases i have seen normally the ballast behind the light fails. Its pretty easy to get out and be tested with a volt meter. I just camped out ebay for a few months checking every 3-4 days until someone finally listed one with a buy it now of $30 and mines been fine since. If yours ends up being just the light(doubtful) ive got an extra ill give ya for cost of shipping (getting sick of seeing it in the rafters of the garage.
