2004 Sierra Wipers won't stay up

I just bought a 2004 GMC Sierra, and I was trying to lift the wipers to scrape ice out from under them. Every other car I've owned I was able to lift the wipers and they would stay in the up position. Is there something different about this truck. How do you get the wipers to stay up when you lift them?

Re: 2004 Sierra Wipers won't stay up

Really? I just bought an 03. I was thinking there was somthing wrong with them. I also notice my driver side wiper does not go all the way down when the wipers are turned off. And the passenger side seems too low. Can I loosen the bolt on the arm and rotate them to the correct posistion? I have an ext. cab quadsteer 4x4
Thanks,
