Clicking noise

99' 3.8L Have a clicking noise when I start the vehicle, also while turning the wheel to the right. Not a "popping" like CV joint but a metallic sound like a metal baseball card in a bicycle spoke. Thought it was on a rotating assembly cause the "clicks" increase/decrease with vehicle speed but it also does it sitting still in the morning? Any ideas???

Re: Clicking noise

Do you have chrome wheels? If so, the chrome could be peeling, creating the noises. Mine does this - sometimes when I'm driving and making a turn, and definetely when I park and the wheels are cooling off

Re: Clicking noise

Well he is from Indiana so it’s cold at this time of year, no hot wheels. But maybe they are just peeling, not familiar with that sound in an intrigue.

Re: Clicking noise

Have you checked your heat shields to see if they are loose ? If the noise also happens while the vehicle is sitting still, have you checked to see if there is something rubbing on any of the moving parts ?

Re: Clicking noise

I still say that if there are chrome wheels it could be them. When I say heat, I mean relative to the ambient temp - driving causes the wheels to heat up significantly compared to the ambient temp. Also, my chrome wheels make clicking noises when I first sit down in the car in the morning due to the shift in weight and that my wheels are peeling around the backs
