Can a 700R4 be swapped from a 1988 to 1991 G Van

I have a 1988 3/4 Ton G Van with a 305 and 700R4 transmission that I will be taking off the road soon, the transmission was rebuilt and is in great condition.

I have a friend whom has a 1991 G Van camper conversion thingie that has a 700R4 transmission (I assume) that will not shift out of first gear. To help him out I would give him my van so he can use my transmission in his van, if it would work out.

Not sure if this swap will work out, not sure what years of 700R4 transmissions can be swapped (e.g. I think some 700R4 transmissions are electronic and some are not, but I'm no expert here).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards.

I forgot to mention that the 1991 van has a 350 motor, mine is a 305.

Regards.

No computer controls until 93.
Heep the converter with the transmission.
Only Lockup clutch wiring and pressure switches on valve body may need changed.
Also speedometer gear setup.

Have him use all stuff like valve body wiring and speedometer gears off of his transmission.
The 350 may have a extra clutch plate inside.
Also have him flush his rad transmission cooler.

FWIW I am looking at a very similar swap so an update on your progress would be greatly appreciated.
