couple of question about my k2500?

Hi I have a 2000 k2500 sierra classic with a 5.7 350ci engine. CSFI Where is the fuel pressure test port? My gas gauge is doing a fast flutter up and down, any ideas? And for the bonus points the fuel filter is STUCK, as in the back fitting has welded itself (chemically) together. I hit it with PB to no avail, I'ld rather not cut and refit. It might come to this. Any helpful suggestions will be considered.

Hum, I just did a conversion from SFI to MFI on my same 5.7 and had the fuel line compleatly apart and slapped it all back together with not one special tool or test equipment.
I say this because I don't think the problem you are having is related to what your looking for.

It maybe the fuel pump sending unit, I don't know if that is what it is called, but it kinda sounds like it to me. I haven't changed a fuel pump on my pick up yet (knock on wood). But I do beleive that is where the fuel gauge gets the information from.

To change a fuel pump on our type of vehicles you have to drop the tank.

Your using two wrenches on the one end of the fuel filter, it should come apart. Than again I haven't lived where they salt the snot out of the roads in years. I remember when I lived in MN we used LOTS of Liquid Wrench or Diesel fuel, we soaked what we needed to get apart about ever hour all day or it would be drill and hack saw. ( With fuel you don't want to generate sparks ).

hmm I'm thinking if this is the fuel pump messing with the fuel gauge it could be because the filter is getting clogged? Increasing the amp draw.The fuel
pump was replaced by lifting the bed, much easier.
