1993 Driver's door key lock
Suddenly the driver's door won't unlock using the key. Passenger door can still be unlocked and power locks and inside lock handle still work, but the key can't be turned in the driver's door lock. I have three sets of keys, same results with all. I wish it had remote locking! (Is there some resonable way to add remote locking?) The current entry routine gets old fast.
Any ideas? I plan to blast WD-40 into the lock in hopes that some tumbler is stuck and will be freed. Is that a bad idea? I suppose I can't make it worse.

Re: 1993 Driver's door key lock
For now the WD-40 seems to have done the trick - either that or the summer-like weather that we're having right now.

haha on the weather
Lock-ease has graphite in it. Get some and do all your locks

Re: 1993 Driver's door key lock
No really, it's 68 degrees in Denver right now. WEIRD!
It might have been mositure that siezed up one of the tumblers - either way a liberal application of WD-40 on a warm (50 degrees) day got it working. I'll look for the Lock-Ease, but if it's like most things that contain graphite I'm worried that my keys might stain the area near the front pocket on my khakis. |

You may have had some moisture freeze up in the lock. Don't use anything resembling and oil in a lock. It seems to attract moisture. Use the powdered graphite you mentioned. |
