Re: 2009 project

The car was boosted for 1.5 years on stock internals before it blew. I ran about 8-10psi. After that I built the motor with forged internals and you can see in my sig and thats how it handles the high boost now. On stock internals plan on putting down around 200whp. A good improvement over stock.

Re: 2009 project

would the auto tranny be a factor in deciding nitrous vs turbo. ive heard doing the 5 speed swap is more trouble than just buying a 5 speed

It's not easy... but it's doable. Just depends on how much you want a 5 speed. I see quite often on eBay people selling all the clutch lines, the pedals, pretty much everything except the tranny, for pretty cheap. Then the trans would be around $300-$600 for a used one. Like anything it just takes some time to install everything right.

Re: 2009 project

Many people have ran turbo setups on the stock block and stock auto tranny. It has proven to hold up fine so far. Once you build the motor and start pushing a good bit of power is when it starts to fail. If you plan on building the motor and running more than 225-250whp plan on swapping to a 5 spd or building the auto tranny.
