overhead console retro

i am looking into retrofit a overhead console (mainly for the compass and o/s temp) into, of all things, a peterbilt! i've looked into ford console due to the availability, but am concerned with the veh. speed sensor wire, which i heard can cause inaccurate reading if not hooked up. does anyone no of any overhead console digital readouts that don't recognize what vehicle they're in? like i said, all i want is the temp and compass, even if i get the temp only i'll be happy. I know, why don't i get an aftermarket thermo?, because i would like to get something hardwired (batteries don't last long in n wisconsin winters) and something cosmetically appealing, and of course the reasonable price. any info is greatly appreciated
