5 miles out of a water pump???

Hi, I have a 95 1L metro, the heat wasn´t working (because of bad coolant circulation I´m asuming) so I put a new rad in it (the old one was toast) new thermostat, patched up a tiny hole in the rear metal coolant tube with jb weld, checked the hoses etc.. and put in a brand new new water pump even though there was no coolant leaking out of the old pump weep hole, I warmed her up and took her for a test drive down the road, turned on the fan and got some good heat from the vents....all was good, I then had a few other starting isues that i dealt with with the good help of you guys, (bad plugs) but I didn´t drive the car more that 5 miles. anyways now the heat does not work again and there is coolan t shooting out of the weep hole from the top of the brand new water pump!!??? can a new water pump go that fast? does that mean I have to go buy another water pump?? I´m sure i didn´t tighten the belt that tight to make it last only 5 miles!!.... could it be the seal between the pump face and block face? I think there is air in the system that I have to burp out also....any sugestions??

You bought a faulty pump. It happens. Take it back and get another. You did'nt do anything wrong.

Agreed. Bad pump. I just had a fuel pump go tits up on my motorhome and it never even left the driveway. Oh well, no biggie, I'm puting in a universal electric on in and if that one goes titties up, then I can replace it in less than ten minutes
