I'm thinking about buying a 2009 and haven't decided which of these two I like. I realize the CTS cost more but I like it because of the V6, the ride, and I can get a moon roof. What I don't like is the interior space. On the other hand the interior space of the Marquis is great, the ride is great, but it has a V8 and no sun/moon roof. Your advice please if you don't mind. Thanks

Re: Marquis vs Cadillac CTS
Well what is more important to you? Is the price, or interior room, or ride more important? Also, what is your concern about the V8 versus the V6? You can always get a aftermarket moon roof put in, or if you look to used vehicles, I am sure you could find a used marquis with a moon roof as a factory option.

Re: Marquis vs Cadillac CTS
I have a 2000 Gran Marquis that just flipped 100K. It is by far the most reliable car we have ever owned, having never required more than normal maintenance. With the correct tires and shocks, the ride and drive is very good and the v8 is giving us 22 mpg on the highway and enough power to pass anything in its path. I really can't see spending the extra bucks on a CTS when the Marquis is such a good value for the money. I do not know how much longer Mercury will produce the Gran Marquis, its Ford sibling is already allegedly gone, but I will mourn its passing.

Re: Marquis vs Cadillac CTS
Since I didn't mention mileage with my car, my averages are 20-21 mpg with mostly city driving as long as i avoid jack rabbit starts. I have had mileage as low as 14 mpg
, but it was fun. Highway mileage is 27 mpg with A/C @ 70 mph, and I have peaked at 33 mpg no A/C @ 65mph. I have had no problems with my car, and it even started after sitting 5 days in 0 degree F weather. I believe that 09 or 2010 will be the last model year for the Marquis. The Crown Vic is currently only fleet sales. This platform is the last body on frame rear drive american sedan, and will prob be the last one made.
