Capturing Videos that won't normally save on certain web sites
The "How Stuff Works" web site is amazing!
However - it won't allow you to save the video! Example: Click on this link to see how syncromesh works http://videos.howstuffworks.com/hows...work-video.htm I, personally, like to look at them again at other times without having to download the whole web site and files all over AGAIN ! - I have slow, slow, slow dial up. Just For Your Information (FYI), you can keep the video when it is done loading...on your Hard Drive. In my browser (SeaMonkey 1.1), it won't let me save the video.... but there is more than one way to skin a cat ! Find out where your "Cache" is located. Use "Windows Explorer" to go to your “Cache” folder and look at your Cache Files. IE calls them “Temporary Internet Files”….. IE > Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > “Browsing History” …Settings Button “Current Location” bar….will tell you where they are. If you use FireFox or SeaMonkey – see EDIT > Preferences > Advanced > Cache or something similar… Using “Windows Explorer” look at the cache or Temporary Files. ![]() ![]() ![]() These flv files (Flash Video) can be played with the following free viewer: http://www.download.com/VLC-Media-Pl...-10267151.html BTW - this VLC-Media-Player is great for watching DVD's also - most anything. Here is more info on playing flv files: http://www.ghacks.net/2007/07/21/how-to-play-flv-files/ and the SMPlayer mentioned in the last link: http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/down...php?tr_lang=en Using this method, you can capture most all videos shown on most Web Sites where the movie being shown won’t allow you to save it….Ha, ha, ha…! It works for the videos shown on youtube.com, although this site sets the capture up much easier (only for YouTube videos) .... http://keepvid.com/ Follow the destructions....copy the youtube link and paste it into Keepvid. Choose flv (lower quality - smaller file) or mp3 (higher quality - bigger file). DoctorBill
