Andy,

You can find the Deutschland decal in the cheap and relatively easy to find Tamiya 959 kit. I installed mine on my 959 already.

Besides that, wow! the end result is just stunning! I loved the tow hook and also the bonnet pins (I've been looking for PE parts for that). Is this going to MOTY?

It looks fantastic. Love the white, the bonnet pins, the tow-hook, etc, all great! Classic build Andy.

Sharp eyes. The clear headlight lens has a lip around the edge on the back side. I masked the back of the lenses with Tamiya tape, and cut it away to uncover this outside lip. Then I completely masked the from side, and airbrushed the edges with metallic grey. It's a small detail, but I think it makes a huge difference in the appearance of the headlights.

The wheels I stripped of chrome in household cleaner/degreaser. I then painted them gloss acrylic black, and sprayed them with alclad chrome. I masked the chrome rim with a homemade masking liquid. I mix white glue with a bit of dish soap and food coloring, and apply it carefully with a toothpick. It's gentle enough that it doesn't harm the alclad when it is peeled up. I didn't like the look of gold centers, so I sprayed the centers with a mix of gold and gunmetal metalizers.

Yes, and it works perfectly! My own 959 kit coughed up it's D, and it looked terrific (and totally hid the slot)- until the decal was badly chipped as I rewaxed the body. (The decal sheet in my 959 is old enough to be member on AF, and it was a bit fragile.) So the 'Gring is there until I find another. Then I think I will put another 'Gring on the right side of the bumper, as I kind of like it.

Yes, it gets entered in MOTY. It would be a bit disingenuous of me to scorn other people for not entering, and not enter my own build.
