its either a '78 or '79 model.

that car looks like it has a 5.7l or 350ci in it... it doesnt have the Shaker hood... so thats a sign it doesnt have the 6.6l or the 403ci... and it deffinately doesnt have the 455ci which is 7.5l.

and it dosent have the other 6.6 in it eather (400cid) And the lettering on the side leads me to believe it has the 350 in it, weather its a chevy 350 or pontiac 350 I dont know, I think they used both in those years.

ehh i doubt it has a chevy 350 in it, the pontiac 350 and the chevy 350 are two totally seperate motors. They are not parts interchangable, the blocks are actually different degrees. the chevy is a 90 degree V... and i think the pontiac less ... I've no clue what its degree'z are.

in my opinion... i wouldnt want the 6.6l... sorry TV i know you liked it.

it made great torque, like 350ft-lbs but was weak in horsepower 185...

that basically means, when you romp on it you'll fly through the intersection like no other but soon after that you're pretty much done cause you dont have any top end pull.

haha but being a torque monster can be fun... like random donuts!

the 403 had 185 hp and 395 torque.

The 455 had something like 400hp and 460 torque

I want the 455

But the other 6.6 was a 400 with a munchie 4 speed!

YERF! RALLY!

yeah but i drove your car... it didnt have no 395ft-lbs of torque... she pulled just like the Nova did with its old motor and i know it wasnt no 395ft-lbs... more like mid 300s..

she was a tired old girl, she needed an engine rebuild bad... she was the $1000 wonder.

I didnt think we were talkin about my T/A

Yes, mine was defentally down a lil, but it still had 5.5 sec 0-60 AFTER that head on :hehe:

Well, I wouldnt want a 403 eather, q-jet, few mods, hard to work on, no stroke what-so-ever....400, chevy 350, 455, I would want one of these.

In any case, yes....I have no point

in the 70s Pontiac had the 455 as one of the engine choices.

Ever see Smokey and the Bandit. Thats a 1977 455 FireBird. Great movie btw!

But if you wanted All out performance from Pontiac, you could order a the V8 - 400 motor with the Ram Air V package, it made 500 BHP straight from the Factory!

It was extremely rare, only a few were ever made.
