More power from my vortec v6?
i have a 94 C1500 with a 4.3 vortec v6 it has 90,000miles on it. i would like to give it some more power but im not sure where to start. it has a straight pipe and glasspack after the cat but it sounds like shit so i will put a flowmaster on payday. any ideas?also where can i get chrome for this motor?

The 4.3 wasn't a popular option in full-size trucks, but it is a decent, reliable engine that can put out good power. There are camshafts, roller rockers, higher flow fuel injectors, air intakes available. Edelbrock makes intake manifolds for the 4.3L and various performance chips are available. I had decent success with Jet's Stage 1 chip in my '96 Jimmy. You won't make gobs of power, but I'd say 220-240 hp is fairly obtainable...it all boils down to how fast you wanna go and how much you have to spend. Good luck!

heh, the best way to modify it is take that sixer out and plop a 350 in there. but i have seen articles on the internet where people have gotten 300 horsepower out of them 4.3's
