Re: Revell F2007

Here's a better picture in daylight conditions. As you can see I've also done a few more decals and added more aero. Just working on the front wing at the moment. Thanks for all the comments so far guys
Next time when I do this kit I'll have to try using a clear red (if I have any TS-21 left anyway...)

Re: Revell F2007

Hi!

I started this kit in the early autumn but made a little mess of it recently so unfortunately I´ve had to strip the paint but this was what it looked like.

This is TS-21 with three coats of TS clear red on top, sealed with TS-13 clear.

Just to show you

Cheers!

Emil

Re: Revell F2007

Front and rear wings are now attached. The front wing is just missing the barcode and Alice decals (and the silver). Also, I haven't got around to doing the barcodes on the cockpit side or mirrors, nor the two puma logos below the airbox yet. Front suspension has now been completed and the camera has been glued in place. Unfortunately Revell don't give any decals for the camera though...
I've managed to lose the small camera for the nose (I think it's a camera). I have the dummy camera for the right side but the one that goes on the left is missing. I've been checking the carpet meticulously but no luck yet
Still, at least I'm on target to finish it by Saturday!

Re: Revell F2007

Finished it today. The clear coat definitely makes my mistake on the red not look so obvious but I'm still disappointed with the overall result. The kit was absolutely fantastic. That's the first Revell kit I've ever been able to say that about!! I only made mistakes because I've rushed the kit to get it done in two weeks...
First of all I lost the nose camera (they're both missing in the photo - no use having one and not the other, that'd look worse!) and secondly I had a disaster when doing the clear coat. I bought some clear laquer from Halfords but the nozzle was clogged (probably some idiot playing with the paints because they have nothing better to do) so instead of just cleaning it, I replaced it with one from a used can of silver. I always spray away from the model for a few seconds to clear the nozzle of any excess paint but this time I rushed into it and splattered the side of the car with some silver still left in the nozzle Fortunately only a very light mist landed on the car but it ruined the right side of the car for me. Still, nobody will be able to tell when it's in the window. Otherwise the only other things that are wrong are the lack of decals on the mirrors (I used a dirty paintbrush when applying microsol without realising - ruined the decal) and the lack of decals on the camera (as Revell haven't provided any). Anyway, despite my incompetence I really enjoyed the kit! I'll be ordering another one when I go back to work on Saturday so I can build a Marlboro version. This time I will be a little more patient! For now though, it's back to work on the RB4

Re: Revell F2007

I think it turned out really great! I bought this kit recently and am looking forward to building it. I heard a lot of good things about it. In the future I will probably end up doing two versions. One with Barcode, the other with Marlboro's (I prefer Marlboro's).

You might have mentioned this in your previous posts, but did you have a problem with the front wheels coming out to far from the brakes? I had this problem with the Revell F2005 kit.

In spite of your troubles the model looks good, IMO!

Re: Revell F2007

bikouros - The kit is indeed very good! By far their best F1 effort imo. There weren't any troubles with the rims at all I've also got a second kit so I can do the Marlboro version with my leftover decals. Hope this helps!

jano11 - Thanks!
