Question Cigarette lighter 2003 Lesabre

I have a 2003 Lesabre and the cigar lighter and the auxillary do not work. I have checked the fuse under the back seat and it is fine. Any tips on how to remove the lighter sockets and check the wiring for power and continuity? Whe the ashtray is pulled out the wiring can be seen however not accessed, is there a way to drop the complete lighter ashtray panel to removr plugs from rear of socket? Or does any one have any idea on how to solve this problem.

Thanks

Check for 12v and ground in the sockets first, using a test lite. I have the same car and my aux. sockets quit after 10 minutes when the key is off, normal.

Re: Cigarette lighter 2003 Lesabre

I may be confused,
but I thought the fuses for the auxiliary and the lighter were in the front fuse box.

Also IIRC there is a setting on both to have continuous battery power so they're always on or have them controlled by the battery drain down preventer which turns them off after about 10 minutes by choosing which pair of holes to place them in. I'm not sure where I learned that, whether it's from the factory service manual or from the owners glovebox manual. There are three holes in the fusebox and you place the fuse in the one pair for continuous and into the other pair for the controlled mode; each time the center hole is used for one of the legs of the fuse.

usually this is the heating element in the lighter, that needs replacing....I did not see that you took voltage measurements....
