1996 Taurus wont start

OK I have a 96 taurus 3.0 that wont start. Motor turns fine getting gas and spark but will not even try to fire. It ran great before this it has 118,000miles.
No check engine light has ever came on or anything. I tried to jump it and still nothing. Throws no codes Im baffled thinkin maybe a camshaft positioning sensor of map sensor maybe??? Any ideas?

Re: 1996 Taurus wont start

If it's getting gas and a spark, it should start. There are three things needed for combustion, gas, air, ignition. Not many things will interfere with the air so I'd try a different means of determining whether or not it's getting gas and spark. Remove one of the front plugs, put the plug wire on it and ground the base to the block. Have someone turn the key and see if you get a spark across the plug. My best guess based on so little information is a bad coil. Check your fuel pressure if the spark is good. Check your fuses for parts to the fuel system.

But to Doug's point, do you know that the fuel pressure is what it should be. How are you checking for fuel? Are the plugs getting wet? If it has fuel pressure and the injectors are working but it's not starting, the plugs should be wet with fuel after a couple seconds of cranking. One needed item for combustion which Doug left out is compression (and everything in the right amount).

Make sure you have GOOD spark. Should be a nice bright blue not dull orange. Just for grins check your cap & rotor.
