Why Is My Amp Not Powering??!!

I have ran into problems hooking up an amp/sub in my 2005 lincoln ls. I have the factory head unit and installed a line out converter to the stock amp in the trunk. I have the eight speaker system that has the factory amp. I found what i thought to be the remote wire, it was yellow/red. Other than that I connected the power cable, and grounded the ground wire. The problem I am having is that I am not getting any power to my amp. I am thinking that I possibly have the remote wire hooked up wrong. I also tried changing the fuse, and had the amp tested. Any suggestions? Does anybody have a wire diagram for my sound system? That could also be helpful. Thanks!

Re: Why Is My Amp Not Powering??!!

Check the voltage on the wire you're using for the remote turn on. The Yellow/Red wire is listed as "Enable." If it's like many other Fords with the "Amplifier Mute" wire, it's a 5V signal with very low current source capability. It doesn't even source enough current to control a 5V mechanical relay coil.

I ended up using it to drive a MOS solid-state relay with the line using a current-limiting resistor for about 5mA. The MOS relay only required 2mA to turn on the output MOSFETs. Then I ran a 12V line to the output of the MOS relay to power the remote turn on lead of the aftermarket amplifier. Works great. The MOS relay I used is I believe a Clare CP110, but if you're interested in doing this yourself, let me know and I'll get the specifics.
