Smile 4wd shifting question

Just a quick question. I'm new to my 2001 Dodge Durango, and I've been told that you have to stop and have the vehicle in neutral to engage and disengage the 4wd. I know that you can't change on the fly to lo range, but any other 4wd vehicle I've driven you can change on the move. Can anyone clear this up for me? (There was no owner's manuel in the vehicle). thanks!

Re: 4wd shifting question

Shift on the fly to hi range.
Neutral and rolling very slowly to shift to lo range.

SHIFT ON THE FLY UP TO 35KM AN HOUR TO 4H.MY DURANGO WILL NOT LET ME SHIFT INTO 4LO ON THE FLY..ONLY IN NEUTRAL.
MINE IS AWD..I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S THE SAME GOING FROM 2 TO 4WD.
