Angry 93 Legacy will not start

I have a 93 legacy 2.2 AWD wagon with around 230,000 miles that will not start. Started fine the day before, drove home from work no problem.Next morning tried to turn over but wouldnt.Brand new plugs and wires and new timing belt.I was thinking fuel pump? As far as i know it has never been replaced. Ideas?

If your lights still turn on then you might need to inspect the starter motor and all of your fuses.
If your lights are dead, then I aggree with Will2.
If you have a car alarm then make sure it's not disabling the vehicle.

Re: 93 Legacy will not start

Lights will come on even with an almost dead battery, most times( of course very dim). It doesn't take as much 'juice' to run lights as it does to turn an engine over. But I'm all for doing the cheaper things first. The question would be. Why isn't there enough juice in a'brand new battery' to turn the engine over?

If it has a newer battery and it still has trouble turning over i would agree that it might be the alternator. I've gone through two of them(212K miles) so far. Fortunately they are relatively easy to change out.

Re: 93 Legacy will not start

If the battery is fresh and the car will not turn over, then it is either the starter, the starter solenoid, or an ignition solenoid that connects to the key.

Re: 93 Legacy will not start

I believe the statement was made that the motor"tried to turn over" meaning,to me, that the starter was working. There was just not enough"juice" in the battery to do it. To me that means the starter and ignition are ok.

Re: 93 Legacy will not start

Hi; Your out of time! when you installed the timing belt you MUST! use the rear mark on crank gear. The gear has a front marking arrow, this will NOT work to time the engine. Hope this helps.
