idler arm replacement question

Well, I was able to pretty much get it removed, but the new arm wont go on I'm guessing because part of the old one didn't come off properly... Need some advice here on what to do ---

Thanks ..

Use a chisel and hammer and spread the old bushing that is stuck on. You can tap it up off the drag link then fairly easily. If you look closely at the bushing, yiu will see a line where it comes together. Or just use a chisel and hammer and start on the bottom and tap on it until it moves up.

POS still won't budge.. may have to take it to a shop with a torch or something......

Had a 6 inch c clamp on it with a socket on the other end... cranked like you wouldnt believe.. hit it with some propane & vibration no action.....

Re: idler arm replacement question

The c clamp will not help you any. Use the hammer and chisel to see if you can loosen it from the bottom. You may also look closely and see where the seam is where it is pressed together. use sharp chisel and open the seam just a little. It takes a little while, but it will come off. It is just a sleeve that is frozen to the linkage.
