I need to know if this is operating right?..wastegate??

I work at a small dealer...we got a 04 srt-4 in trade and we have had them before..like 4 of them on and off...

Well this one acts different...

when getting on it ..and boost goes to 10 lbs its fine....but once it pasts 10...somewhere below 15 ....the wastegate opens and you can hear the air flow out until pressure is gone....if you are on the gas then it just continues until the pressure is gone.....

when shifting...you never hear the wastegate open...at least I didnt...

but it doesnt stay in the boost when you really get on it...the pressure blows it out...

now I am not really familiar with turbo cars ...and I dont know what this car is supposed to open at...matter of fact .never seen one open that way....

I always heard the former srt-4's open when shifting...

what is the boost supposed to open at?

what should be checked out? ...weak wastegate??

thanks

Sounds like a boost leak. It should be at around 14-15lbs.

Sounds like a boost leak, I need more information about your setup.

It could also be plugs, wires, or coils. Start troubleshooting with the small things and work your way up.
