Ford Escort MKII [Revell]

Hi everyone! I've start building this car about 6 months ago and still didn't menage to finish it. It's Ford Escort MkII by Revell. Quite good one, few fitting issues but generally not as many as some other Revell's got. That's my first car with some knowledge, i've done few before but whem now I'm looking at them...it's disaster.
When I finish I hope to get something like this


First step was to rebuild chassis. I cut out wings and replace them with wider ones scratchbuild with styrene and lots of putty.








Now some putty and hours of sanding










After few layers of primer








Then I start working on the interior and underchassis






The boot content






Engine with some scratchbiuld parts








There's more done but I'll post it later.

As I said before more pics of my MkII.
I mount in sets with CrazyModeler seatbelts and scratchbuild some details in engine bay.




Next step was to put engine on its place and connect wit wires and hoses.




And rollcage.







Floor mats (I used a drinking can).


Finnished cockpit and doorpanels. Everything together waiting for chassis.












And finnaly underchassis with scratchbuild muffler.





Whells - Speedline compe-2, tyres - Pirelli P Zero, brake disc - Brembo. All from Fujimi kit.


I also rebuild suspension (not shown on photos) - I had to make it wider and replace springs with the new ones made of wire.
Now I'm waiting for paint to dry on chassis, than decals and few more details. I hope to finish it soon.

Looking absolutely fabulous.

I really like how the bodywork turned out. Looks very smooth.
Must have been a lot of work, but the result is great.

Judging by your progress so far, you won't have any trouble bringing this build to a good end.

Just one minor remark.
I think the fenders where good as they came with the kit. When I compare your reference pciture to your progress, I'd say the fenders are a bit too wide.
But than again, the look you created is actually meaner and really brute. I like it better than the original.

Thanks for your comment DerXL. I'm not building the same car as on the photo it was just an example for me. I didn't want to use wheels from the kit so I had to made fenders that wide otherwise Fujimi wheels wouldn't fit.

Great work...Got to see that car you are basing your Escort from at Gurston Down this year, where that photo was taken...Can't wait to see the finished model...Just a quick question what putty do you use...

Thanks lads!! I used a Tamiya White and Mr Hobby Mr White Putty and at the beggining car putty but it wasn't good idea. I find Mr Hobby one a bit better than Tamiya.

Great work. Always like the old school rally cars, and the Escort is a favorite.

Personally, I would have used some deeper dish Minilites for the wheels.

As others have said, I would like to see the finished body.

Another month spent on trying to finish that build...
Body with decals waiting for clearcoating.
Still waiting for bonnet to dry. I had to paint this piece 4 times allready...!

Small but not last update.
Allmost ready but there are still few things missing - bonnet needs polishing, pins. Here are few shots taken just before I left all modeling stuff for two months





I'm not very happy with final look but like for first kit it's ok for me.
