Re: 91 bonny door wont open!!!!
Yes - been there doine that.
Do the Whaaaapppp test... these bodies are known for this- the latch mechanism is spring loaded and if a door is not used for an extended period, the corrosion will not allow the spring to release the latch properly-- so if you jarr it just right, the spring will release the inner mechanism. My Park Ave did the same thing- I let it sit for 3 months and the driver's door will not open-- the push-button did not feel right- had very little resistance- so I read up on it- and figured it out- Two strong flat handed whaaaaapppps to the out door panel under the door handle- and al of a sudden the door push button resistance is back- and the door opens--if you excersize the joint enough, it will usually not happen again for awhile-- heck all four of my doors have done it- the rear doors just started- and will need to be whapped daily for a couple of days- then can go for several months without a problem. The worst is when you are inside, and the driver's door does it- you have to crawl outside to whaaaaapppp it- My driver's door once did it four times in one day-- that is when I puled the door apart and sprayed a buch of WD-40 all over the release mechanism- hasn't done it since- and that was 3 years ago...back doors still do it once in awhile- but I'll wait until it gets worse to spray them down- you have to pull the inner door panels odd to get at the mechanism. Have fun whaaaapppping!! Most fix-it shops will replace the mechanism-- I'm here to tell you, a bunch of WD-40 is much cheaper and easier......

Yeah- glad you posted back- that's what makes these forums so useful- At least you now know what is wrong and how to deal with it- instead of being solely at the mercy of a repair shop. My wife and daughter both know how to whaaappp it- becomes a fun routine sometimes.....
