Brakes dragging after install of new Driver side Parking cable.
I have a 97 Sunfire GT. I recently did brakes all around and while in the process of doing this I discovered that the driver side Parking cable was broken and not functioning. I bought a new cable and installed it and adjusted the brakes as per normal. Every thing worked fine and there was no drag on the drums at initial setup. However after a few days of short trips I noticed that then driver side brake stays engaged a fair amount of drag and the passenger side very little drag. I re-adjusted the brake adjuster but even with it adjusted all the way back to full slack it still causes the drum to drag. Is there something else that I need to adjust?? I had to go back inside the drum and unhook the parking brake cable just so I could drive it home so I would not damage the drums or the wear the shoes prematurely. Any help is greatly appreciated. The only problem now is that I am back to where I was before and I have to use the full throw of the paking brake lever to engage the passenger parking brake. When I hade the other cable hooked up it would engage the parking brakes on the first click up on the parking lever.

Re: Brakes dragging after install of new Driver side Parking cable.
So when I installed the new cable on the driver side Do I need to replace the passenger side as it may be stretched. Thus activating the passenger brake after the driver side and this is causing the auto aduster to take up the slack from the passenger side. Which causes the driver side to stay engaged after the parking brake has been released due to the excess tension created by the auto adjuster. Any thoughts or help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
