Question RFI Filter Fuel Pump

Have a 98 c1500 with a 5.7 and the Fuel Pump finally went out. Got it to kick back on once but it sounded real sick. Anyway, going to get the Delphi pump but can I tell if I have the RFI Filter model without first pulling the pump? Thanks.

Re: RFI Filter Fuel Pump

Have your dealer decode the vin no.

Or you have to pull the tank and check on top of pump unit for code no.
But sometimes fuel pumps gets switched with the wrong one.
Dealer vin decode is best.

Re: RFI Filter Fuel Pump

I'm guessing RFI in this case is Radio Frequency Interferance, in which case a filter would keep your radio from humming.

Does anyone know what the GFT code means? It is for my 1999 3500 crew cab Pick up.

And can I get an electric inline fuel pump for a back up so I do not get stuck on the road somewhere.?

That is the code that the parts store needs to give you the correct pump.

As for a backup pump, I have no idea if it will work. But maybe you could set it up "out of line" with a valve at the inlet to get you home. Need to be carefull with the pressure.

RFI is Radio Frequancy Interferance. Delphi which ake the AC Delcom pumps said they are put in the cop cars so they do not interfere with the radio.

You can get them (the pumps at) for $189.00
