Motor swap from a 97 to a 96 not getting spark.
I put a motor in a 96 cav from a 97. Both motors are 2.2L 4 Cyl both cars are Automatic transmissions. I pulled the motor out of the 97 the car was rolled but still driveable and it ran great when I drove it home.
I swapped the motors. Motor cranks over but wont start. I am getting fuel. But I have no spark. I was wondering if it was something to do with the ECM or the ICM. To change the ECM out I have to change engine wiring harness plugs are different. Or is it possible to get the ECM reprogramed to that motor. Any help will be great Thanks. |

First thing to do is check for spark and fuel.

Well I ended up replacing the wiring harness and ECM from the car I got the motor from and got spark. Then I had to get the Theft system reset and the car fired up. Thanks for the help.
