Engine cranks but won't turn.. I don't understand?
It is a 1995 civic EX (D16Z6)
OK here whats going on. I installed new headers and the car now wont turn on, but I doubt this has anything to do with the problem First I checked all grounds and fuses and they were all fine. Fuel pump turns on, its good. There is a pulse in the injectors so that seems to fine also. Changed the battery still no go Changed the Spark plugs still no go Checked for Sparks, works perfectly, still no go Checked compression 95% good If this information helps. I was on the ramp to the freeway and I mishifted into 2nd gear at 70mph only for half a sec.. But when I put it back to 3rd, 4th, then to 5th. It drove perfect like how I regularly drive it. And was able to drive it back home in one piece with no bogs or anything different with the car. I parked it in the garage, installed the headers, and after it was good and done, I tried starting it up and just wouldn't turn.. Checked another theory and bought Engine starting fluid and sprayed a couple in the throttle body to double check it was not a fuel problem but still it's cranking and not turning I am clearly out of ideas anybody know something that could be wrong? IT'S CRANKING BUT NOT TURNING... I don't understand? |

When you say not turning, do you mean not firing?

Re: Engine cranks but won't turn.. I don't understand?
Crank/turn mean the same thing... if it's cranking, it's turning over.. what you're trying to say is that it's not starting.
The only things an engine needs to start are fuel/air, spark, and compression... if you're getting all those, there is no reason your engine won't start. Are you getting any Check engine lights? If you are, check them, diagnose/fix them, then attempt to start again. Other than that, check the grounds and such again, go back through the entire process of installing the header, that way you can double check EVERYTHING you touched or came in contact with. Check all your fuses too.
