Re: towing with a 2002 grand prix 3.1

As far as pulling, they will do it. If the vehicle is rated to tow 1000 lb trailer, it will do so in August in Death Valley up either of the mile-high hills at the ~30mph speed limit.

Personally I feel like it shortens the clutch pack life somewhat, no matter what fluid you use as the trans has to shift a larger mechanical load.

Stopping is a different issue, and one you should be more concerned about.
Surge brakes would be highly recommended.

I'm sure the car will tow these things. even though everytime i see a car pulling something...i cringe.

my suggestion though...not sure if you do it or not, some ppl dont. KEEP THE CAR OUT OF OD, the tranny will run MUCH cooler.

Good idea! Not to mention installing a hitch and towing with a GP could cause damage to your bumper when you pull things.

Also read up on the forums about the 4t65e and the issues of running synthetic in it before you swap your fluid out.
