couple questions about 85 suburban?

first it has a carb and i would like to know if i should have a vented or non vented gas cap? it didnt have one when i bought it and i put the one off of my 88 with tbi which is non vented so now when i pull up to the gas station to put gas in it has a really long hiss when i pull the cap and second where can i get headers for this it is 4 wheel drive? i stopped at oriellys auto today and they dont even have parts listed for this old their listing starts in 87 and finally where can i find a good book either online or paper to detail how to rebuild and rejet the quadrajet? again i went to the parts store and they have nothing, can you guys help me out? thanks fellas

Re: couple questions about 85 suburban?

Check ebay for the cheapest headers, otherwise Jegs/Summit Racing, JC Whitney also has a good selection. As for the gas cap, you can try a vented one from a junkyard to check, or go to your local gas station and ask them to see their box of 'left on the pump' caps. If it's supposed to have a non-vented cap, then you'll have to check the tank for a vent hose that may be clogged up, thus causing your hiss. You can also check Ebay for a Q-jet book, or Chilton's/Haynes' Manuals or Amazon.com, they're not too bad to work on, but most people will tell you to buy an Edelbrock to save yourself time and headaches, as they are much easier to tune.
