1995 Bonneville stalls at idle speed

My girlfriends bonneville recently started eating fuel pumps, has been through 5 in the last 20,000 miles, 3 of them in the last 6,000 miles. It didn't run when I first met her about a year ago, I changed the fuel filter (as it was plugged tight), one coil pack, and replaced the vaccum hoses and gave it a tune up to get it going, ran great and got about 30 miles to the gallon. Shortly after, it ate a fuel pump. I bought a new tank and installed it with the new pump. Didn't help, wound up burning up another pump, more dirt. Figured out her ex was dumping dirty water in the tank and bought a locking gas cap to cure that nonsense. Fixed it again, this time with a used pump out of a friends car, ran better than ever before, then all of a sudden it developed an issue where now it stalls out randomly at idle, whether in gear or not. It only does it when not under acceleration, sometimes will start right and others will not, I noticed yesterday i do not hear the fuel pump running when it wont, replaced the relay and cleaned grounds, new filter, additive. Runs Great when it runs, any ideas?

Did you clean the driver's side ground bus?

Consider flushing the tank well next time you drop the tank.

I cleaned the drivers side ground bus using a commercial electrical cleaner, no change, looks as if I'll be installing another fuel fuel pump, unless someone has a better idea to try first.

Did you pull the metal bar from the bus & was it the bus with all the black wires? If the metal bar has corrosion you'll need to clean it with sandpaper. You'll need to clean the female portion of the bus also.

How are the power windows, locks and power seat? If they are acting up that would be the ground buss by the front doors and/or the other 5 grounds(Three under the hood and 2 in the cabin)

I had same problem with mine. Could be fuel regulator also.

I would eliminate the grounds first. If you still have problems it may be a problem with the crank sensor/circuit or cam sensor/circuit. Good luck!

Your problem is that your not putting in the Correct Fuel Pump. I had the same problem with my Silhouette. Theres the 3.1 carb fuel pump, the 3.8 fuel pump, the 3800 fuel pump and the latest one that covers some of the 3800 and some of the 3400 series. the 3.8 and the 3800 fuel pumps are not the same, if you put the wrong one it, it quickly burns out and starts blowing fuses.
