Flying Lizards Porsche Le Mans 2007
I thought someone had posted about this before, but I couldn't find anything. I just got the Profil 24 kit of the Flying Lizards Porsche from Le Mans 2007 and the paint recommendations are vague at best. Does anyone have any specific color suggestions for this car? Looks like it needs to be painted in light blue, silver and red (with some tricky masking). Thanks.

I had the first version, and you better check out the rear wheels too. To me they're way too big, I replaced them with a Tamiya Tire. Much better looking.
Why not send an email to profil 24 to ask them about the painting? MANU |

Hi guys: would you like to do a mini-review? I liked to purchase the 997 but I liked to know more about quality... etc.

http://www.mautomobile.com/forum/ind...howtopic=15295 and a WIP i've done.Hope it's accessible. http://www.mautomobile.com/forum/ind...howtopic=15934 MY kit pics : I don' tlike the scheme son the regular 997, so i decided to make my "official version" based on the GT1 97 version. Kit is quite ok, the wheels ain't that beautiful, a bit thivk, rear wheel is too big to meO therwise, good decals, good quality. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Flying Lizards Porsche Le Mans 2007
Manu,
I took your advice and emailed Jean-Philippe at Profil24. He quickly responded with a suggestion to use Gulf blue for the light blue, and generic red and silver for the other two colors. He also sent me around 30 nice high-res photos of the real car, which will be a great help. He also pointed out that there are very light guide lines molded into the body to mark the different color areas, which will help a lot with the masking. Nice customer service - greatly appreciated. I'll try to find some time to take some pics of the kit contents and post them. Larry |

Re: Flying Lizards Porsche Le Mans 2007
Wadny, the red and the silver are the same than the "regular" car from Flying Lizard Motorsport and are painted.
Light blue and "special Le Mans livery" are vinyl, so it's diffcult to find a reference for the light blue. In the instructions, do you have the black&white paper sheet with drawings to place first decal, chrome decals, wheels decals and offset decals ? |

Re: Flying Lizards Porsche Le Mans 2007
Bob,
Thanks for the additional info. Jean-Philippe from Profil24 emailed me the additional page of drawings for placing the chrome decals. I noticed that the decals were done by Dexter Models - if that's your work, nice job! I can see that this kit will take some work, but it's a visually stunning car and should be worth the effort. My son and I went to Le Mans in 2007 for the race (our first time), so it's nice to get some models from that race. Mikezibit, Thanks for posting the link. I knew I saw something about the kit before, so I guess there's no need to post more pictures of the same kit. Larry |

Re: Flying Lizards Porsche Le Mans 2007
Yes Larry you're right, I'm the designer of this livery...Thanks for your compliments
Well if you got the additional notice, you are ready to start ! Decals aren't so difficult to put on body. Just take care of placement for decal #1. Then after, it's important to follow the numbers until #47 because some decals are a little bit covered by the next one as tiles (top of front bumper for example). With right door and front hood, the decal of the fender (#11) makes a little gap. Same thing with bottom of rear hood and rear bumper...It's normal because it's like that on the real car ! So, be sure to work with pics of race day, not pics from test days ! (Right door and rear bumper changed before the race). |
