Snowboarding Season Soon!!!
Snowboarding Season is right around the corner! So psyched.
I am from NJ and have been to a fair share of mountains in NJ, PA and NY. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone who is an avid snowboarder knows of any great places, that aren't too too pricey and not too far of a commute. For instance a place that isnt more than 3-4 hours away, a place that would be great for a long weekend trip, and a mountain that has a good mix of trails. I have been snowboarding for about 3 years, so needless to say I am still learning but I absolutely love the sport and am trying to challenge myself and discover new and interesting locations. any help is much appreciated!

Re: Snowboarding Season Soon!!!
If you can scrape some $ together and go for a week instead, I don't think you can beat Whistler. Fly to Vancouver and get the bus 2 hrs north. Avoid the holidays and go later in the season and it should be reasonable priced.

Re: Snowboarding Season Soon!!!
Come to Idaho. Boarder friendly, two half pipes less than two hours apart. No Cali Sierra Cement or New England slush. Check it out by Googling "Idaho Powder" or "Sun Valley"

Re: Snowboarding Season Soon!!!
Thanks guys! I def appreciate your input!!!
![]() I guess if I'm to experience some new mountains I would have to travel a little bit farther...haha. They both sound like good places, I'm def going to go research them and see what I can find out...but either way a week long vaca would sounds more realistic then a long weekend for either of those places. Hopefully I can get some extra money together and plan something awesome! |

Re: Snowboarding Season Soon!!!
Cool man, I've been to heaps of resorts in Western Canada - Whistler, Lake Louise, Norquay, Sunshine and a couple in Colorado. The pick of the lot is easily whistler, we've been there 3 times for a couple of weeks each time and still haven't come close to boarding the whole mountain(s). It's f*cking huge.

Re: Snowboarding Season Soon!!!
Jay Peak is an AWESOME place in Vermont - if you sneeze, it goes over the Canadian border. It's less crowded than places like Killington.
I also want to scope out this one place in Virginia this year. I've been to Massanutten, and it was OK, but nothing amazing. This place looks good online... just have no idea what it's really like. http://www.wintergreenresort.com/ As for PA boarding/skiing - I haven't done anything in the Poconos (no real reason other than I just haven't) but I've heard good things. I grew up skiing 7 Springs and Hidden Valley over in the Alleghenies. They're OK but nothing to write home about with under a 1k vertical drop.
