Axle Shaft

Hey Guys, I'm pretty sure my drivers side axel shaft is on its way out. Its leaked grease all over the place plus when I put it in drive sometimes I can hear a clunk. However there is no noise when going around corners.... yet.

I was just wondering what you guys would recommend. a1-cardone rebuilds run about 50 bucks around here with a 100.00 core charge. Are these cardone ones any good?

What other brands should I look into?

Thanks!

Re: Axle Shaft

Personally Tim I would stay away from A1 Cardone stuff or other questionable reman. brands. Checkout the ZZP HD Stage 1 axle shafts. No core charge.

Also stay away from reman axles from Advanced.I know someone that went through 6 axles for a Dodge Neon, from Advanced. If it is a daily driver, you do not need a high perfomance axle.Carquest is another place to check for a reman axle and I never seen problems with their axles.

I disagree and not necessarily true regardless if it is a daily driver. He is modded and has plans for future mods so the Stage 1 ZZP axle shafts are ideal and since this is a GTP and not a typical daily driver.

The most common issue on aftermarket axle shafts is the CV rubber protective boots come off or slip off and grease spills out due to the high torque of the L67 engine. There are no issues like that with the ZZP axle shafts and the ZZP ones are cheaper considering it is $85 for the pair with no core charge.

Re: Axle Shaft

wow, 85 for the pair and no core charge? I could rebuild the two I have and save them for spairs or for the g/f's GP SE incase her's ever go bad. I think I'm sold Bob, Thank you! I just wish it wasn't so darn cold in MN now, it makes me hate working on cars.
